10 000 Migrants Entered Croatia in a Day

Croatia's Interior Ministry has said some 10 000 migrants crossed into the country on Friday, September 25 alone.

On its website, it has also put the total number of migrants who arrived at 65 000.

Croatia Opens Border Crossings with Serbia to All Traffic

Croatia's Interior Ministry has announced the Bajakovo and Tovarnik border crossing points into and out of Serbia are open "to all traffic, without any restrictions".

According to public broadcaster HRT, which cites government officials, vehicles have been moving both ways past the Bajakovo crossing regardless of their license plate number as of 17:00 local time (18:00 EEST).

Bulgarian Police Detain 50 Migrants near Pernik

Fifty migrants have been detained near the southwestern town of Pernik, not far from Bulgaria's capital Sofia, local officials say.

District governor Irena Sokolova told Focus News Agency the migrants were found traveling in the carriage of a truck with a Pernik license plate en route to Kyustendil, another town located close to Bulgaria's borders with both Macedonia and Serbia.

EU's Hahn Praises Serbia's Efforts to Tackle Refugee Crisis

No country can be left to solve the refugee problem alone, EU Commissioner Johannes Hahn said during a visit to Serbia on Friday.

Croatia and Serbia traded ugly barbs Sept. 24 and slammed tit-for-tat border restrictions on each other as Hungary started building yet another razor-wire barrier to keep refugees out, this time from neighbouring Slovenia.

Croatian Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic on Friday accused his Serbian counterpart of holding "secret talks with Budapest and with Karamarko in Zagreb."

Tomislav Karamarko is the leader of the opposition Croatian HDZ party.

PM: Bulgaria Provides Reliable Border Guard Against Refugee Wave

Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov assured on Friday that both the incumbent and the previous governments have guarded the country's borders reliably against the refugee influx.

According to him, this has led to redirection of the refugee route through Turkey, Greece, Macedonia, Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Hungary, Austria, Germany and Sweden.

Hungary Starts Building Razor-Wire Fence along Border with Slovenia

Hungary has started building a razor-wire fence along the border with Slovenia to deter a flow of illegal migrants, AP reported on Thursday.

Slovenian state news agency STA said the country wasn't informed in advance of Hungary's plans.

EU pledges 1 billion euros to refugee crisis, seeks more dialogue with Turkey

European Union nations have agreed at a summit held in Brussels on Sept. 23 to give an additional 1.1 billion euros in aid to the United Nations' agencies dealing with the refugee crisis in the Syria-neighboring countries, pledging greater cooperation and dialogue with Turkey, which has become the main route of migrants trying to reach European countries.

Commissioner Hahn to Discuss Refugee Crisis in Europe on Serbia Visit

European Commissioner Johannes Hahn will visit Serbia on Friday to discuss the current refugee crisis in Europe.

Hahn, the Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, will meet members of the Serbian government including Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic and Interior  Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic and will visit the Refugee Aid Centre in Sid.

Austria "to send refugees back to Slovenia and Croatia"

Austria said it would send back refugees who enter the country from the Croatia and Slovenia, pointing out that "Europe needs a sustainable asylum system."

Minister of Internal Affairs of Austria Johanna Mikl-Leitner said that Croatia and Slovenia are "safe countries" and that migrants who pass through them without seeking asylum will be returned there.

Serbian minister accuses Croatia of "racism"

Serbian Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Aleksandar Vulin has said that Croatia's measure to "completely close borders" amounted to "racism."

"There's no other word for this," Vulin said in Belgrade as he was attending the unveiling of a memorial dedicated to Milica Rakic - a Serbian toddler killed in a NATO airstrike in 1999.

Serbian Chamber of Commerce (PKS) President Marko Cadez has called on Slovenian companies "to send a clear signal to the Croatian government."

It would concern Croatia's blocking of border crossings with Croatia that has been causing losses to everyone losses, he said.
