The National Theater of Northern Greece is back home after a summer tour with its production of the third play in Aeschylus' Oedipus-themed trilogy, "Seven Against Thebes," where the blind king's curse dooming his sons to divide the kingdom by the sword finally comes to pass.

Lavrovsky Tribute | Thessaloniki & Athens | September 17 & 19-20

The Bolshoi Ballet pays tribute to one of its greatest dancers and teachers, Mikhail Lavrovsky, with a show that premiered in Moscow on May 4 and is traveling outside Russia for the first time for three shows in Greece, just a month shy of Lavrov's 76th birthday.

Filming of 'Mamma Mia' Sequel to Start in Vis, Croatia

The US film production company Universal Pictures will soon start shooting the sequel to the hit 2008 American-British-Swedish film musical Mamma Mia! in Croatia, on the island of Vis.

The film, following a popular Broadway musical, featured Hollywood stars Meryl Streep and Pierce Brosnan, among others, singing along to hits from the 1970s Swedish legendary pop band Abba.

Founded in 2010 in an Athens basement, the Underground Youth Orchestra - whose members now comprise 45 music students aged 10 to 24 and four professional musicians - has performed more than 40 concerts in different parts of Greece.

In its debut appearance in Greece, China's Shanghai Kunqu Opera troupe performs short plays based on traditional Chinese fairy tales and legends at the Greek National Opera in the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center, on Thursday, August 31, and Friday, September 1.

Eleftheria Arvanitaki | Elefsina | August 28

One of Greece's most acclaimed female vocalists, Eleftheria Arvanitaki, has put together a program titled "Second Life" with songs comprising the works of great Greek poets set to music by esteemed composers. She will be performing at the annual Aeschylus Festival in the town of Elefsina on Monday, August 28. The show starts at 8.30 p.m.

La La Land | Athens & Thessaloniki | September 8-10

The world tour of Damien Chazelle's Oscar-winning movie "La La Land" will be coming to Greece for three shows, at Athens's Tae Kwon Do Arena in Neo Faliro on Friday and Saturday, September 8 and 9, and Thessaloniki's PAOK Sports Arena on Sunday, September 10.

Eurobank unveils analysis on why Greece remains in memoranda programmes
