Athens and Beijing sign three-year action plan

Greece and China signed a "three-year action plan" for joint projects over the weekend that will see Greece claim a share of Beijing's 100-billion-euro investment program for the countries on the so-called New Silk Road.

Flights came to Greece with more seats filled last year

Airline seat occupancy on flights to Greece posted a 0.9 percentage point increase last year according to data processed by the Institute of the Greek Tourism Confederation (SETE).

Planes into Greece were 80 percent full in 2016 against 79.1 percent in 2015, while the number of seats available came to 23 million against 21.65 million in 2015.

Q1 brought a 0.5 percent contraction

Units intercept over 1,000 migrants on Turkish borders

Over 1,000 people were intercepted by Turkish forces trying to enter the country illegally from Syria on May 14, the military stated on May 15.        

Just under 1,090 people were found by Turkish forces' border units, the General Staff stated, without saying whether the influx was at a particular point or along Turkey's lengthy southern border with Syria.

Greek economy shrinks in first quarter, hurt by bailout review uncertainty

Greece's economy contracted in the first three months of the year but less than in the final quarter of 2016, flash estimates by its statistics service showed on Monday, as jitters over the conclusion of a bailout review hurt business confidence.
