Imia are 'Turkish soil' says Turkish FM

Turkey's Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu on Wednesday referred to the eastern Aegean Imia islets as "Turkish soil."

Cavusoglu was responding in writing to a question tabled by a Turkish MP regarding the status of islands and islets in the Aegean.

Eurozone unemployment rate edges down further

The unemployment rate in the 19-country eurozone edged down further in October, to 9.8 percent from 9.9 percent the previous month.

Statistics agency Eurostat said Thursday that the number of people out of work fell by 178,000 over the month.

Turkish Foreign Minister: Imia is Turkish land

In the latest series of provocations against Greece, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu claimed the island of Imia in the Aegean Sea belonged to Turkey, in a written response to a Turkish MP’s question in the country’s national assembly, Wednesday. “There is no change in our policy regarding Imia. Imia is Turkish land”, the Turkish Foreign Minister said.

Greece fails to reach deal on gas grid sale to Azerbaijan's Socar

Greece said on Wednesday that talks to sell a 66 percent stake in gas grid operator DESFA to Azerbaijan's Socar did not conclude successfully.

The country's energy ministry said Socar's proposal to reduce the price of the 400 million euro deal was legally unfeasible and would cancel the tender.

GDP shrinks but tax revenues grow

Tax revenues in Greece amounted to 66 billion euros in 2015, or 36.8 percent of the country's gross domestic product, up by a percentage point from 2014, according to the Revenue Statistics 1965-2015 report issued by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). That is above the OECD member-state average of 34.3 percent of GDP.

Greek president rebukes Turkey's Erdogan over 'might is right' attitude on Cyprus

Greek President Prokopis Pavlopoulos has lashed out against comments by his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan describing Cyprus's "shameful" use of its flag to represent the entire island and its disregard of the breakaway state in Turkish-occupied territory, saying that statements coming out of Ankara were fueled by a "might is right" attitude.
