German press calls for expulsion of Greece from Eurozone
A portion of the German press is openly calling for the expulsion of Greece from the common European currency area, following Monday’s Eurogroup meeting, which decided to release a part of the 2.8bln-Euro sub-tranche to the crisis-stricken country and the uncertainty of whether the IMF will continue to support the bailout program.
Kammenos says he would withdraw support for government if Church is disregarded
The leader of the junior coalition party, the Independent Greeks (ANEL), Panos Kammenos says he would withdraw his support for the government if the Church of Greece is disregarded.
Speaking to Antenna TV on Tuesday, Kammenos said that a conflict between the State and the Church "would be catastrophic for Greece."
No self-criticism
In the delta of vested interests and corruption, a marshland where triangular relationships rule the roost, democracy could never lead a life without peril. This is where democracy ends up shrinking and sinking; where it is held to ransom and manipulated. This is where its constitutions and laws end up nothing more than empty, fragile shells.
Dead-end talk
The cynicism and low quality of debate seen in Parliament on Monday do not benefit democracy in the slightest, particularly when the issue at hand is corruption in the country's public life, a major concern in Greece.
This is the kind of issue that cannot be handled through the use of political fireworks, by dragging people through the mud or launching attacks at a personal level.
