Refugees in northern Greece take part in protests against closed borders (photos)
Frustration and anger among the refugees and illegal immigrants in Greece is growing, causing concerns for Greek authorities, especially after the Brussels terrorist attacks. In separate incidents some 150 blocked the highway Thessaloniki-Kilkis in northern Greece in a protest against the closed borders between Greece and FYROM. This resulted in a minor traffic jam.
Romania, Bulgaria, Croatia 'Most Corrupt EU Countries'
Three states in Southeast Europe have been named as the most corrupt countries in the 28-nation bloc, according to a European Parliament study done by RAND Europe and several other organizations and researchers.
Romania, Bulgaria and Croatia top a list where Eastern European countries are all above EU average levels in terms of corruption.
Mouzalas: I cannot guarantee that we will not have children dying at Idomeni
Alternate Minister for Migration Policy Yiannis Mouzalas on Tuesday in an interview with Alpha TV expressed his fears that children may die at Idomeni.
Mr. Mouzalas admitted that, although the state should be 24-hour “present”, this has not been achieved due to his own oversights, too, stressing that Greece has never been called to deal with such a crisis in the past 50 years.
Bulgaria Beefs Up Security at Internal EU Borders
Bulgaria has bolstered security at both external and internal borders of the EU, the Interior Ministry's Chief Secretary Georgi Kostov has said.
Kostov has told the Bulgarian National Television that "100% border control" is currently being implemented in relation to the attacks that killed at least 31 people in Brussels on Tuesday.
Merkel pledges to cooperate with Belgium to bring terrorists to justice
German Chancellor Angela Merkel said Germany would closely cooperate with Belgium to track down the terrorists and bring them to justice, hours after the attacks rocked the capital of Belgium, Brussels. The Chancellor heard of the news of the terror attacks in Brussels while she was on the phone with Greek PM Alexis Tsipras.
Turkey 'not safe for refugees' claim insulting: Cameron
It is insulting to suggest Turkey is not a safe country for Syrian refugees, British Prime Minister David Cameron has said.
Cameron was addressing lawmakers in the House of Commons on last week's refugee deal between Turkey and the European Union, replying to a question from opposition leader Jeremy Corbyn.
