Greek yields fall, stocks rise after PM Tsipras says reforms coming soon

Greek government bond yields fell and stocks rose on Friday after Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras assured European Union creditors that he would soon present a set of economic reforms to unlock cash and stave off bankruptcy.

Friday's fall in yields at the open was only a fraction of Thursday's sharp rise.

Bulgarians Have Lowest Life Satisfaction in EU - Eurostat

On the eve of the International Day of Happiness, which is celebrated on March 20, Eurostat published on Thursday a study showing that Bulgarians have the lowest life satisfaction in the EU.

Respondents from the 28 EU member states were asked to rank their life satisfaction on a scale from 0 ("not satisfied at all") to 10 ("fully satisfied").

Job vacancy rate up 0.8% in Greece, 1.8% in Europe

The job vacancy rate in the euro area (EA18) was 1.8% in the fourth quarter of 2014, up from 1.6% recorded both in the previous quarter and in the fourth quarter of 2013, according to figures published by Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union.

Partial Solar Eclipse – Watch it live!

The National Observatory of Athens said that a partial solar eclipse will be visible in Greece late on Friday morning. People are warned against looking at the Sun without special eye protection, especially children.

The eclipse is to take place from 10.39 a.m. to 12.49 p.m., with its deepest point occurring at 11.43 a.m.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel gave a brief press conference following the multi-partite meeting with Greece and its international creditors at dawn on Friday. She told reporters that there was 'disappointment' that more progress has not been made by Greece. "There was disappointment that what we expected didn't happen after February 20," she said.
