Bansko Will Host The International Jazz Festival 2017 in August
At the beginning of August in the jazz capital of the Balkans - Bansko, we will be able again to hear some of the most talented musicians. The Bansko International Jazz Festival has already become a traditional celebration of music. However, the year 2017 is special because the festival will celebrate its 20th anniversary, reported BGNES.
Turkish international Barcelona player Arda Turan verbally, physically attacks sports journalist on plane
Turkish international and Barcelona midfielder Arda Turan has verbally and physically assaulted a Turkish sports journalist on a plane carrying the national team from Macedonia's Skopje to Italy's Trieste late on June 5.
Just before the plane took off, Turan reportedly approached daily Milliyet's Bilal Meşe, who was sitting nearby, and started shouting at him.
Theater festival in Adana to kick off season
Organized with the cooperation of the Sabancı Foundation, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and State Theaters, the 19th State Theaters Sabancı International Adana Theater Festival will kick off in the southern Turkish province of Adana on March 27, World Theater Day. The event will feature national and international theater shows through April 30.

This image, by Cologne-based Palestinian photojournalist Ali Nouraldin, won second prize in the UNICEF Photo of the Year 2016 awards, it was announced by the jury in Berlin, Germany, Tuesday. The photograph shows refugee children watching a movie in an improvised open-air cinema at the Idomeni refugee camp near the Greek border with the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM).
Esma Redzepova dies aged 73
BELGRADE - Macedonia's "Romany music queen" Esma Redzepova has died aged 73. Redzepova died in the capital, Skopje, following a short illness, hospital and family sources said on December 11.
One of the first vocalists to sing in the Romany language, she performed in some of the world's greatest music halls over the course of her career, which spanned more than five decades.
Attacks on Balkan Media Unchecked, HRW Says
Western Balkan governments and the European Union have over the past year failed to take action to address the issues hindering media freedom in the region, the NGO Human Rights Watch, HRW, said in the 2016 update of its media freedom report.
It added that new, troubling cases of threats and attacks on journalists had meanwhile emerged - but also remained unpunished.
Kantfest to be held November 24-27 in Belgrade
BELGRADE - The 3rd Belgrade singer-songwriter festival "Kantfest", dedicated to Bob Dylan, will be held on November 24-27.
Over forty contestants from Slovenia, Croatia, Hungary, Bulgaria, Montenegro, BiH, Macedonia and Serbia will perform.
In the competitive part of the program, singer-songwriters will only perform their original songs accompanied by one instrument.
International Satire fest to be held on October 12
BELGRADE - The international "Satire Fest 2016" festival of humor and satire will take place on October 12 at the Kolarac Foundation, the organizer, the Belgrade Aphoristic Circle, has announced.
The 14th Satire Fest will be dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the death of writer Petar Kocic (1877-1916).
Macedonia Bans Serbian Music
The ban on Serbian music in the neighbouring Republic of Macedonia entered into force on Friday night.
Serbian music may not be played on local radios and TV stations. All Macedonian TV channels and radios observe the ban and, besides global music hits, they play Croatian, Bulgarian, Bosnian and Albanian music.
Exhibition of Pulitzer-Winning Bulgarian Photographer Opens in Sofia
An exhibition of Thomson Reuters photographer Stoyan Nenov, who was among the Pulitzer winners in photography this year, can now be seen at the Czech Center in Sofia, Bulgaria.
Entitled 1/320 of the Second, it shows some of the photos he took of migrants and refugees headed to Western Europe and crossing the Balkans.
