Albanian Football Fans to Boycott Matches in Protest

The Red and Blacks, the largest group of supporters of the Albanian national football team, has announced a total boycott all the matches played in the country in response to what they call police intimidation and violence.

Albania Police Take no Chances With Israel Match

Albanian police on Friday announced strict security measures in place for the football match with Israel that will be played at the Elbasan Arena on Saturday evening.

Around 2,000 police will be deployed to secure the match, while other security measures will also be implemented.

Turkey snatches last-minute winner in Montenegro friendly

A last-gasp header from Mehmet Topal gave Turkey a 1-0 victory over Montenegro on May 29, as well as a boost to the team's morale ahead of Euro 2016. 

Midfielder Arda Turan, likely to be key to Turkey's prospects in France, set up the goal with a cross in the fourth minute of stoppage time and Topal charged into the area to head it past the diving Montenegro keeper. 

Jankovic ousted from Madrid Open in first round

MADRID - Serbia's Jelena Jankovic was ousted in the opening round of the Madrid Open by Romania's Sorana Cirstea 6-4, 6-3 on Sunday.
    
World number 131 Cirstea will next play Montenegro's Danka Kovinic.

Ça?la Büyükakçay wins historic WTA title in Istanbul on home soil

Turkish tennis player Ca?la Büyükakçay became the first Turkish player to win a WTA tournament following a victory over Montenegro's Danka Kovinic in the final of the TEB BNP Paribas Istanbul Cup International Women's tournament on April 24.

Büyükakçay, 26, defeated 21-year-old Kovinic 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 at Garanti Koza Arena in Istanbul.

Bulgaria's Tsvetana Pironkova Proceeds to Second Round in Istanbul

The highest ranking Bulgarian female tennis player Tsvetana Pironkova proceeded to the second round of the TEB BNP Paribas Istanbul Cup.

In a match from the first round played on Tuesday, Pironkova defeated Aliaksandra Sasnovich from Belarus with 6:2, 6:2.

Abel Kibet Rop, Stella Barsosio win 29th Belgrade Marathon

BELGRADE - Kenya's Abel Kibet Rop and Stella Barsosio triumphed in the men's and women's marathon races at the 2016 Belgrade Marathon on Saturday.

Rop's time was two hours and 24 minutes, and his countryman Moses Kipruto Kibire joined him as second nearly five minutes later (2:28:50), while Hungary's Tamas Nagy finished third in 2:36:20.

Cameroonian striker Samuel Eto'o is the latest player to confirm his participation at the birthday show celebrating the 50th anniversary of Bulgarian football legend Hristo Stoichkov.

Eto'o, who like Stoichkov played for Barcelona, is the first African to confirm his participation in the spectacle which will take place at the Vasil Levski National Stadium in Sofia on May 20.

Germany's Lothar Matthaus to Come to Sofia for Stoichkov's Birthday Show

Germany's Lothar Matthaus is the latest player to confirm his participation at the show celebrating the 50th anniversary of Bulgarian football legend Hristo Stoichkov which will take place at the Vasil Levski National Stadium in Sofia on May 20.

Matthaus will be the fourth Ballon d'Or holder to participate in the show along with Stoichkov, Roberto Baggio and Jean-Pierre Papin.

Water polo: Serbia crushes Greece to reach EC final

Serbia reached the final of the 2016 Men's European Water Polo Championship in Belgrade after comfortably beating Greece 13-7 (4-3, 2-0, 4-1, 2-3) on Wednesday.
