Athletics: With two bronze medals, Romania ranks 22nd in the indoor European Championship
Romania ranks 22nd in the final classification of the nations at the European Athletics Indoor Championship in Prague, with two bronze medals.

Out of 49 participating countries, Romania won its medals with Florentina Marincu (long jump) and Marian Oprea (triple jump).
Tennis - Davis Cup: Romania takes 2-0 lead over Israel after victory of Marius Copil
Romania's team is leading Israel 2-0 after the first day of the Davis Cup, thanks to the win of Marius Copil, who defeated Dudi Sela 6-7 (3), 7-6 (3), 6-4, 6-2, Friday evening, in the Transilvania Hall in Sibiu (rd 272 km north-west of Bucharest), in the first round of the competition, Group I of the Europe and Africa zone.

German Foreign Minister on official visit to Romania on Monday
The German Foreign Affairs minister, Frank-Walter Steinmeier will pay an official visit to Romania on Monday, where he will be received by President Klaus Iohannis, Prime minister Victor Ponta and will hold talks with his counterpart, Bogdan Aurescu, a press release by the German Embassy in Bucharest informs AGERPRES on Friday.
Romania has to break the ice in events for older athletes, says retired champion Szabo
AGERPRES special correspondent Teodora Oprea reports: Aboard a TAROM flight on Thursday carrying her to the 33rd edition of the European Indoor Athletics Championships, to be hosted by Prague City, March 5-8, Romania's Minister of Youth and Sports Gabriela Szabo, a retired multiple-time athletics champion herself, said Romania will hopefully break the ice in the events for older athletes.
Player Halep, President Iohannis invited to cheer for Romania's Davis Cup team
Andrei Pavel, the captain of Romania's Davis Cup tennis team said Tuesday the team would be honoured to be cheered on by tennis player Simona Halep, currently number three in the world's professional ranking, and by Romania's President Klaus Iohannis, an amateur tennis player himself, in their meet with Israel.

Bulgaria's Tsvetana Pironkova Defeated at 1/8 Finals in Dubai
Bulgaria's top female tennis player Tsvetana Pironkova was defeated in the 1/8 finals of the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships on Wednesday.
Pironkova was defeated by top seeded Simona Halep from Romania with 4:6, 3:6, daily Dnevnik reports.
The Bulgarian performed well, but was seemingly exhausted from the previous two matches, which lasted for more than two hours each.
