Bulgaria Boasts 92 % Absorption Rate of EU Funds - PM Borisov

Prime Minister Boyko Borisov stated on Sunday that Bulgaria's absorption rate of EU funds amounted to 92 %.

Borisov added that in this respect Bulgaria outperformed Romania by 20 %, private bTV station reports.

Bulgarians made 528 604 trips abroad in July, which represented an increase of 16.5 % compared to the same month in 2014.

This is shown by the latest figures of the National Statistical Institute (NSI), which were released on Thursday.

Migrant Deaths Cast Pall Over Balkan Summit

German Chancellor Angela Merkel, attending the Western Balkan summit in Vienna, on Thursday said she was "shaken" by the news that the bodies of at least 20 dead migrants - and possibly as many as 40 or 50 - had been found in an abandoned lorry in eastern Austria.

The remains were discovered on Thursday morning on a motorway between Neusiedl and Parndorf.
