Romania stands to lose at least 40 million euro following Russia’s recent decision to ban food and agriculture imports from the EU, experts say.

Last year, Romania exported 2.3 per cent of its fruit and vegetables production to Russia, worth almost 40 million euro. Most production was exported to EU countries.

Bank of Cyprus sells Romanian hotel stake

Troubled Bank of Cyprus, the island’s largest lender, said on Wednesday it has agreed to sell its stake in Romania’s Marriott Bucharest Grand Hotel to an Austrian firm for 95 million euros.

The Romania-Republic of Moldova joint customs operations led to a decrease in the cigarette smuggling in north-eastern Romania, the Customs General Directorate (DGV) informed on Wednesday. A Novel Research study released on Tuesday had showed that the cigarette black market has been on a rising trend in July 2014, reaching the highest level in the last three years.
