Djokovic to face Croatia's Prizmic in Aussie Open first round
MELBOURNE - Serbia's Novak Djokovic, the world number one in men's tennis singles, will play Croatian youngster Dino Prizmic in the first round of the Australian Open on Sunday.
After defeating Argentine Mariano Navone and compatriot Duje Ajdukovic, Prizmic beat Tunisian Aziz Dougaz 6-3, 6-4 on Friday morning to complete the qualifications for the Australian Open.
Djokovic completes first training session in Melbourne ahead of Aussie Open
MELBOURNE - Serbia's Novak Djokovic, the world number one in men's tennis singles, on Tuesday completed his first training session at the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne ahead of Australian Open, the season's first Grand Slam tournament.
Reigning champion Djokovic recently arrived in Melbourne from Perth, where he played for Serbia at the United Cup.
Lajovic through to Adelaide second round
ADELAIDE - Serbia's Dusan Lajovic is through to the second round of the Adelaide tennis tournament after defeating Australian Thanasi Kokkinakis 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 on Monday.
World number 52 Lajovic, who won after two hours and 12 minutes of play, is now 4-0 head-to-head against world number 68 Kokkinakis.
Serbia out of United Cup after Stevanovic loses to Australia's Tomljanovic
PERTH - The Serbia national tennis team is out of the United Cup after Natalija Stevanovic lost 6-1, 6-1 to Australia's Ajla Tomljanovic in Perth on Wednesday.
Winning after only 65 minutes of play, Tomljanovic handed Australia a decisive 2-0 lead in the quarter-final tie against Serbia.
Stevanovic was a stand-in for Olga Danilovic.
Stojkovic: We have put Serbia back on map of European football
BELGRADE - The head coach of the Serbia men's national football team Dragan Stojkovic said on Friday his squad had succeeded in putting Serbia back on the map of European football.
Stojkovic said this after receiving his fourth-career Football Association of Serbia (FSS) Golden Ball Award for Best Coach of The Year.
