Mitrovic leads Serbia to win over Montenegro

BELGRADE - The Serbia men's national football team defeated Montenegro 3-1 at home in a EURO 2024 qualifying Group G match on Tuesday evening.

Aleksandar Mitrovic scored for Serbia in the 9th and the 74th minute and Dusan Tadic found the net in the 77th minute, while Stevan Jovetic scored for Montenegro in the 36th minute.

STARA PAZOVA - The head coach of the Serbia men's national football team Dragan Pixie Stojkovic said on Monday there was no doubt he would take Serbia to the EURO 2024 and noted that his team was going to Budapest to win a crucial qualifying game against Hungary.

Serbia play Hungary in Budapest on October 14 and host Montenegro in Belgrade three days later.

BELGRADE - The head coach of the Serbia men's national football team Dragan Pixie Stojkovic on Friday announced his final squad list for the upcoming crucial EURO 2024 qualifying games against Hungary and Montenegro.

It includes young Partizan Belgrade centre back Mihajlo Ilic and RB Salzburg striker Petar Ratkov, while Luka Jovic has been omitted from the fold.

Cukaricki lose to Genk in UEFA Europa Conference League

LESKOVAC  - Serbia's Cukaricki lost 2-0 to Belgian side Genk at home in a UEFA Europa Conference League Group F game on Thursday evening.

Bryan Heynen opened the scoring in Leskovac in the 10th minute following an assist by Joseph Paintsil, who also converted a VAR penalty in the 21st minute after a Luka Subotic foul on Heynen.

Olympiacos held to draw by TSC in UEFA Europa League

BACKA TOPOLA - Serbia's TSC Backa Topola drew 2-2 with Greek football giants Olympiacos at home in a UEFA Europa League Group A match on Thursday evening.

Ifet Djakovac and Milos Pantovic scored for the hosts in the 63rd and the 90th minute, respectively, and Georgios Masouras and Daniel Podence netted for Olympiacos in the 16th and the 57th minute, respectively.

Djokovic plays golf at Ryder Cup in Rome

ROME - Serbia's Novak Djokovic, the world number one in men's tennis, took part in the Ryder Cup golf tournament in Rome on Wednesday.

He featured in a celebrity all-star match between Team Monty and Team Pavin.

Djokovic represented Team Monty alongside former footballer Gareth Bale, surfer Leonardo Fioravanti, content creator Garrett Hilbert and golfer Kipp Popert.

Stojkovic announces preliminary squad list for October EURO 2024 qualifiers

BELGRADE - The head coach of the Serbia men's national football team Dragan Stojkovic on Tuesday announced a preliminary squad list for the EURO 2024 qualifiers in October.

Serbia face Hungary in Budapest on October 14 and host Montenegro at the Rajko Mitic Stadium in Belgrade on October 17.

West Ham come from behind to defeat TSC in UEFA Europa League

LONDON - English Premier League side West Ham United came from behind to defeat Serbia's TSC Backa Topola 3-1 in the UEFA Europa League Group A in London on Thursday evening.

Petar Stanic put the visitors in the lead in the 47th minute after robbing Angelo Ogbona of possession in midfield and going through on goal.

Djokovic to play in Paris, Turin and at Davis Cup Finals

BELGRADE - Serbia's Novak Djokovic, the world number one in men's tennis, will play at the Paris Masters, the ATP Finals in Turin and the Davis Cup Finals in Malaga until the end of the season, according to his official website.

Djokovic will skip the Astana ATP tournament and the Shanghai Masters.

Serbia to face Great Britain in Davis Cup quarter-finals

LONDON - The Serbia men's national tennis team was on Tuesday drawn to play Great Britain in the quarter-finals of the Davis Cup Finals tournament.

The winner of the tie will face the Netherlands or Italy in the semi-finals.

The other two quarter-finals are Canada vs Finland and Czech Republic vs Australia.

The draw ceremony was held in London.

Serbian long jumper Vuleta wins Diamond League

EUGENE - Serbia's Ivana Vuleta won the long jump event at the Diamond League in Eugene, US, after producing a 6.85 m leap in her last attempt in the final on Sunday.

Vuleta was tied in the first place with Nigerian Ese Brume but won due to a better second-best attempt (6.77 m compared to 6.69 m by Brume).

American Quanesha Burks took the third place with a 6.77 m jump.

Djere hands Serbia lead in Davis Cup tie vs Spain

VALENCIA - Serbian tennis player Laslo Djere beat Albert Ramos-Vinolas 6-4, 6-4 in Valencia on Friday to give Serbia a 1-0 lead in a Davis Cup Group C second round tie against Spain.

Djere won after an hour and 26 minutes of play.

Djere defeats Kwon to give Serbia Davis Cup win over South Korea

VALENCIA - Serbian tennis player Laslo Djere defeated South Korea's Soonwoo Kwon 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 in the second match of a Davis Cup Group C first round tie between Serbia and South Korea in Valencia on Tuesday evening.

Djere won after two hours of play to give Serbia a decisive 2-0 lead and a win in the tie.

Earlier, Dusan Lajovic beat Seong Chan Hong.
