Serbia beat Greece at Acropolis basketball tournament

ATHENS - The Serbia men's national basketball team defeated Greece 71-64 (16-13, 23-22, 18-14, 14-15) in the first round of the Acropolis tournament in Athens on Tuesday evening.

Bogdan Bogdanovic led Serbia with 15 points and seven rebounds, Nikola Milutinov had 14 points and 12 rebounds and Marko Guduric added 14 points and seven rebounds.

TSC lose to Braga in Champions League qualifiers first leg

BRAGA - Serbia's TSC Backa Topola lost 3-0 away to Portuguese side Braga in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round on Tuesday evening.

Bruma opened the scoring in the 18th minute, Pizzi netted in the 19th minute and Alvaro Djalo made it 3-0 in the 87th minute.

The return leg in Backa Topola is scheduled for August 15.

Serbia to play Finland, Denmark and Georgia in EuroBasket qualifiers

MUNICH - The Serbia men's national basketball team was on Tuesday drawn to play Finland, Denmark and Georgia in FIBA EuroBasket 2025 Qualifiers Group G.

The draw ceremony was held in Munich.

The top three teams from eight qualifying groups will advance to the final tournament.

Partizan to face FCSB or Nordsjaelland if they reach Conference League play-offs

NYON - Serbia's Partizan Belgrade were on Monday drawn to face Romania's FCSB Bucharest or Danish outfit Nordsjaelland in the UEFA Europa Conference League play-offs if they qualify.

In the first leg of the third qualifying round, Partizan will face Azerbaijani side Sabah away on Thursday evening and host the second leg in Belgrade a week later.

APOEL knock Vojvodina out of UEFA Europa Conference League qualifiers

NOVI SAD - Serbia's Vojvodina Novi Sad are out of the UEFA Europa Conference League qualifiers after losing 2-1 at home to Cypriot side APOEL Nicosia on Thursday evening.

APOEL won 4-2 on aggregate after winning the first leg 2-1 last week.

Djokovic to also play in Cincinnati doubles

CINCINNATI - Serbia's top-ranked tennis player Novak Djokovic will also be playing in the men's doubles event at this season's Cincinnati Masters tournament alongside compatriot Nikola Cacic, US media have reported.

Djokovic, who has previously announced he would be competing in the singles event at Cincinnati this season, won the singles title at the tournament in 2018 and 2020.

Serbia U18 men's national basketball team takes European title

NIS - The Serbia U18 men's national basketball team has won the 2023 FIBA U18 European Championship after beating defending champions Spain 81-71 (24-24, 17-16, 15-11, 25-20) in the final in Nis on Sunday.

Serbia's Nikola Topic was the top scorer of the game with 24 points and his teammates Mitar Bosnjakovic and Andrej Musicki added 21 and 12 points, respectively.

Water polo team makes the final

Greece's national team face will face Hungary on Saturday in the final of the men's water polo tournament at the World Aquatics Championships in Fukuoka, Japan, after beating Serbia 13-7 in the semifinal on Thursday.

Hungary edged out Spain 12-11 later on Thursday. The two finalists are the first to qualify for the 2024 Summer Olympics, in Paris.
