Djokovic, Krajinovic through to Beijing doubles quarterfinal

BEIJING - Serbia's Novak Djokovic and Filip Krajinovic reached the doubles quarterfinal at the ATP tournament in Beijing after the withdrawal of Latvian Ernest Gulbis and Polish Marcin Matkowski in the first round on Thursday.

Djokovic/Krajinovic are next to take on Italian-Argentinean pair Fabio Fognini/Leonardo Mayer.

Serbia kicks off stage 2 of WC with win against Holland

VERONA - Serbia defeated Holland 3-0 (25-22 25-23 25-23) at the start of stage two of the women's volleyball world championship in Verona on Wednesday.

This was the 5th victory at the tournament for the team led by coach Zoran Terzic, with the only loss coming from the Olympic champions, Brazil, in the first stage.

Ivanovic reaches Beijing third round

BELGRADE - Serbia's tennis player Ana Ivanovic is through to the third round of the WTA tournament in Beijing beating Romina Oprandi of Switzerland 6-4, 6-2 on Tuesday.

Ivanovic is next to take on German Sabine Lisicki, who bested Canadian Eugenie Bouchard 6-2, 6-4.

Jankovic defeated in Beijing opener, Ivanovic moves on

BEIJING - Serbia's tennis player Jelena Jankovic did not make it to the second round of the WTA tournament in Beijing as she was bested by Alize Cornet of France 7-5, 3-6, 6-4 on Monday.

This was the first win of the French player in their head-to-heads (1-3).

Earlier on Monday, Serbia's Ana Ivanovic breezed past Belinda Bencic of Switzerland 6-2, 6-1 in only 72 minutes.

Djokovic fixed on ATP rankings top

LONDON - Serbia's tennis player Novak Djokovic is still world No. 1 on the latest ATP list released on Monday with a total of 12,150 points followed by Spain's Rafael Nadal with 8,665 and Switzerland's Roger Federer with 8,170 points.

Troicki loses in Shenzhen quarter-finals

SHENZHEN - Serbia's Viktor Troicki has failed to reach the semi-finals of the Shenzhen ATP tournament after losing to Santiago Giraldo of Colombia 7-6 (8-6), 6-3 on Friday.

It was Troicki's second career defeat to Giraldo, who previously beat him in Hertogenbosch in 2010.

Men's volleyball team still third in CEV ranking

BELGRADE - Men's volleyball team of Serbia still takes the third place in the latest European Volleyball Confederation (CEV) ranking.

CEV has published the ranking after the end of the world championship in Poland, and Serbia is still ranked third with 324 points, the Serbian Volleyball Association released in a statement.

Serbia ease past Cameroon for third World Championship win

TRIESTE - The Serbian women's volleyball team beat Cameroon 3-0 (25-17, 25-13, 26-24) in their World Championship Pool B, Round 3 match in Trieste, Italy on Thursday.

Coach Zoran Terzic's team scored their third consecutive victory after beating Turkey (3-0) and Bulgaria (3-2).

There will be no fixtures on Friday, and Serbia will next face Canada on Saturday.

Troicki reaches quarterfinals in Shenzhen

SHENZHEN - Serbia's Viktor Troicki defeated Spain's David Ferrer 6-3 6-4 in the second round of the ATP tournament in Shenzhen on Thursday and qualified for the quarterfinals of the event.

Troicki's fast and efficient play against the tournament's top seed showed that he is on his way back among the tennis elite.

This comes as no surprise, as the country has been a member of the EU for almost 10 years and was the wealthiest republic in Yugoslavia.

Troicki reaches second round at Shenzhen tournament

BELGRADE - Serbia's tennis player Viktor Troicki reached the second round of the ATP tournament in Shenzhen, China, after Slovak Martin Klizan retired in the third set on Tuesday.

Klizan decided to quit the match at the point when Troicki had a 3-0 lead in the decisive set. The Slovak player claimed the first set 7-5, while Troicki won the second one 6-1.

Jankovic retires in Wuhan round 2

WUHAN - Serbia's No. 2 Jelena Jankovic was forced to retire in her second round match at the WTA tournament in Wuhan against Coco Vandeweghe (USA) on Tuesday, while trailing 4-1.

Jankovic is the second Serbian player to retire in Wuhan, after Ana Ivanovic pulled out due to fatigue in the first round on Monday.

Ana Ivanovic wins Tokyo tournament

TOKYO - Serbia's Ana Ivanovic won her 15th career title early Sunday by beating Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark 6-2, 7-6 (7-2) in the final of the Tokyo WTA tournament.

After Auckland, Monterrey and Birmingham, it was Ivanovic's fourth trophy this season, which brought her 470 WTA points.

Ana Ivanovic through to Tokyo final

TOKYO - Serbia's Ana Ivanovic has reached the final of the Tokyo WTA tournament after beating Angelique Kerber of Germany 7-5, 6-3 early Saturday.

In the final, the Serbian will face Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark, who beat Garbine Muguruza of Spain 6-4, 2-6, 6-2.
