Jankovic's doubles run in Tokyo ends in semifinals
TOKYO - Serbia's Jelena Jankovic and Spain's Arantxa Parra Santonja lost their semifinal match against the Indian-Zimbabwean pair of Sania Mirza and Cara Black 6-3, 6-2 at the Toray Pan Pacific Open on Friday.
Jankovic was ousted in the second round of the singles competition earlier.

Ana Ivanovic reaches quarterfinals in Tokyo
TOKYO - Serbia's top-ranked female tennis player Ana Ivanovic advanced to the quarterfinals of the Toray Pan Pacific Open in Tokyo after beating Victoria Azarenka of Belarus 6-3, 6-4 on Wednesday.
Ivanovic took a 3-0 lead in both sets, and broke her opponent's serve twice before winning the second set.
Jovanovski loses opener in Guangzhou
GUANGZHOU - Serbia's Bojana Jovanovski lost her first round match at Guangzhou International Women's Open to Monica Niculescu of Romania 6-2, 6-2 on Tuesday.
Jovanovski was visibly tired from the last week's tournament in Tashkent, where she was dethroned by Italy's Karin Knapp in straight sets on Sunday.

Belgraders welcome medal-winning Serbian athletes
BELGRADE - A crowd of more than 20,000 people gathered in Belgrade late Monday to welcome the Serbian men's basketball team, which won the silver medal on Sunday at the World Cup in Spain.
Also welcomed were the women's shooting team, which won the gold medal at the World Championships in Granada, as well as world wrestling champion Davor Stefanek.

US too strong, Serbia wins silver
MADRID - Serbia won the silver medal at the basketball world championship in Madrid, since it lost to the US 129-92 (35-21 32-20 38-26 24-25) in the final on Sunday.
This is an improvement for Serbia compared to the previous world championship, in Turkey in 2010, where it finished 4th, while the US managed to defend the title in Madrid.
