BELGRADE - Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic met Sunday with Christoph Straesser, German federal government commissioner for human rights policy and humanitarian aid, who stressed that holding a gathering of LGBT people in Belgrade would be of great importance.

Police arrest three persons who attacked German citizen

BELGRADE - Serbian police arrested Saturday three persons who had attacked D.H. (27), a German citizen who had arrived in Belgrade to take part in an international conference on LGBT rights.

"The attackers were arrested in two cities in Serbia and are currently in the hands of the police," the Serbian Interior Ministry (MUP)said in a release on Saturday.

Police arrests participant in fight

BELGRADE - The police have arrested one of three participants in an incident that occurred in the center of Belgrade during the night between Friday and Saturday and that left a German citizen seriously injured, Serbian Interior Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic said Saturday.

Serbia beat France to reach Basketball World Cup final

MADRID - Serbia is in the final of the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup after beating France 90-85 (21-15, 25-17, 15-14, 29-39) in the semifinals in Madrid on Friday.

The players coached by former basketball star Aleksandar Djordjevic will play defending champions United States in the Sunday final.

Serbia also beat European champions Spain during the tournament.

Gasic and China's Poly Group reps discuss cooperation

BELGRADE - Serbian Defense Minister Bratislav Gasic has met with a delegation of China Poly Group Corporation, a Chinese business group, to discuss establishment of defense industry cooperation.

The meeting, which took place in Belgrade on Friday, also touched on possible cooperation in third markets, the Serbian Defense Ministry said on its website.

EULEX takes over remains of 24 people exhumed in Raska

PRISTINA - EULEX forensic officials received from the Serbian authorities in Merdare on Friday the remains of 24 people most recently exhumed in Raska, south Serbia.

They also received additional evidence and other documents, EULEX stated.

The remains will be transported to the headquarters of the forensics department in Pristina for identification.
