Slovenia Starts Building Fence on Croatia Border
The Slovenian military started to set up a barbed wire fence on the border with Croatia on Wednesday, media reports confirmed. The Slovenian Prime Minister Miro Cerar announced the move on Tuesday.
The fence is being built to stop Middle-Eastern refugees from illegally entering the country using informal border crossings and divert the refugees to regular border crossings.

The Austrian interior minister was speaking during a tour of the border crossing Spielfeld with Slovenia through which thousands of refugees arrive in Austria every day.

The European Union has been struggling to cope with the steady influx of people fleeing from turmoil, conflicts and harsh conditions in the Middle East, Africa and Asia for years. But the matters came to a tipping point after mainly Syrian and Afghan refugees pushed their way onto the EU over the summer amid several drowning incidents in the Mediterranean Sea.

Tents at the Brezice transit camp in Slovenia were reportedly set on fire by migrants, who were discontent with the slow process of registration and the poor living conditions.
According to witnesses, the migrants complained of the lack of food, water and blankets and the slow process of moving them to the Austrian border, the BBC reports.
