Slovenia to play for bronze after losing to France
Tokyo – The Slovenian men’s basketball team lost 89:90 to France in the semi-finals of their debut Olympic basketball tournament on Thursday to play for the bronze medal against Australia on Saturday at 1pm CET.
This is Slovenia’s first loss at the tournament after the team sailed through the group phase and outperformed Germany in the semi-finals.
Pole vault: Tina Šutej finishes fifth at Tokyo Olympics
Tokyo – Slovenia’s Tina Šutej has placed fifth in the women’s pole vault at the Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo. The 32-year-old national record holder registered a clearance of 4.5 metres in Thursday’s final and then failed to clear the height of 4.7 metres to join the top four. US Katie Nageotte won gold as she cleared the final height of 4.9 metres.
Slovenia’s basketball team continues winning streak at Olympics
Tokyo – After securing a place in the quarter-finals of the basketball tournament at the Tokyo Olympic Games, Slovenia continued their winning strike on Sunday by beating Spain 95:87 in the third game of the tournament, in which Slovenia remains undefeated. Slovenia will face either Italy or Germany in the quarter-finals.

Tokyo – Slovenia made it to the quarter-finals of the basketball tournament at the Tokyo Olympic Games after defeating the hosts Japan 116:81 for what is their second win in as many matches.
Led by the NBA All-Star Luka Dončić, Slovenia were in the lead throughout the game. With plenty of motivated players in action, they were effective on the offensive and solid in defence.
Table tennis player Jorgić knocked out of Olympic singles event after historic feat
Tokyo – Slovenia’s Darko Jorgić, who advanced to the quarter finals in the men’s singles table tennis event at the Tokyo Olympics in what was the best Slovenian Olympic result in table tennis so far, will not compete for medals in this category as he lost to the sixth-ranked Lin Yun-Ju of Taiwan on Wednesday.
Olympics: Trajković misses medal in taekwondo
Tokyo – Slovenia’s Ivan Trajković finished fifth in taekwondo at the Tokyo Olympics after missing bronze by a whisker in the men’s +80kg event, having to concede to South Korea’s In Kyo-don, the number 2 seed, 4:5.
This is Trajković’s best Olympic result after he placed 11th at the 2012 Olympics in London. He failed to make it to the Rio Games four years later.
Slovenian judoka Tina Trstenjak wins silver Olympic medal
Tokyo – Slovenian judoka Tina Trstenjak has won the silver medal in the 63kg category at the Tokyo Olympics. The second-best-ranked in the category had to concede to the top-ranked Clarisse Agbegnenou of France on Tuesday in what was a replay of the gold medal match from the previous Olympics where Trstenjak won.
