Turkish pop singer escapes gun attack

A Turkish pop singer has escaped injury after his car was hit by gunfire in Istanbul early Nov. 7.

Berkay, a relatively new star in the Turkish music scene, was driving in the city's Be?ikta? district when two individuals on a motorbike fired shots at his vehicle.

34th Istanbul Book Fair opens at TÜYAP center

The 34th International Istanbul Book Fair opens on Nov. 7 at the TÜYAP Fair and Convention Center.

'Mustang' second best in Seminci Film Festival

French-Turkish director Deniz Gamze Ergüven's film "Mustang" has won four awards at the 60th International Seminci Film Festival in Valladolid, Spain.

Antalya Film Festival's head of jury announced

The 52nd International Antalya Film Festival, which was previously the Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival, will be held between Nov. 29 and Dec. 6 this year. Veteran Turkish journalist Çetin Altan dies

Veteran Turkish journalist and author Çetin Altan died on Oct. 22. He was 88.

Altan had been hospitalized in June and later discharged.

Born on June 22, 1927 in Istanbul, Altan began his journalism career in 1946 in the Ulus newspaper. 

Veteran Turkish journalist, author Çetin Altan dies at 88

Çetin Altan, a prominent figure in the Turkish journalism history, died on Oct. 22 of pneumonia-driven respiratory failure and septic shock. He was 88.

Altan had been hospitalized in June and was later discharged. However, he was hospitalized at Fatih University hospital in the Maltepe district of Istanbul as his condition worsened.
