13 dead in migrant boat collision with Turkish ferry

At least 13 migrants died off the coast of Turkey after the inflatable boat carrying them to Greece collided with a Turkish ferry.

According to Dogan news, four children were among the victims of the accident involving a boat carrying 46 migrants from the northwestern Turkish port of Canakkale to Lesvos.

Twenty people were rescued, whereas 13 people are still missing.

Bulgaria closes its border for illegal immigrants

Prime Minister Boyko Borisov stated that Bulgaria closed its borders for illegal immigrants, since the crisis has been escalated.

“Bulgaria has closed its borders for illegal immigrants. If someone wants to legally pass the borders, he can. The others cannot”, Mr. Borisov said according to Bulgarian news site OFFNews.

26 migrants missing in sea off Greece: Coastguard

Twenty-six migrants were feared missing early on Sept.20 after a dinghy carrying them sank off the Greek island of Lesbos, the coastguard said. 

Their nationalities were not immediately known. A search and rescue operation was under way and 20 other people were pulled from the water, a coastguard spokeswoman said. 

Refugees blocked near Turkey-Greece border disperse

Hundreds of mostly Syrian migrants who had been blocked for days by police in the northwestern Turkish city of Edirne while trying to reach the nearby Greek border have agreed to abandon their roadside protest.

A five-year-old Syrian girl was found dead on Saturday and several other refugees were believed to be missing when their boat sank in an attempted crossing from Turkey to Greece, the state ANA agency reported.
 
The Greek coastguard said it had rescued 11 people and was looking for other survivors.
 

Migrants Start Walking from Turkey's Edirne to Border with Greece

Thousands of migrants have set off on foot to the border with Greece after spending the past three days in makeshift camps in the fileds near the Turkish city of Edirne, Bulgaria's bTV station reported on Friday.
