EuroLeague: Fenerbahçe to face Catalan giant Barcelona

Turkey's Fenerbahçe Beko will host Catalan basketball powerhouse Barcelona Lassa on Jan. 16 in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague 2019-20 regular season.

The match will be held at Ülker Arena in Istanbul at 20.45 local time in Turkey.

Juventus' Turkish defender Merih Demiral undergoes knee surgery, will miss EURO 2020

Italian football powerhouse Juventus' Turkish central defender Merih Demiral will be out for at least six months, the Turin club said on Jan. 14.

"Earlier this evening, Merih Demiral underwent reconstruction of the anterior cruciate ligament and suture of the lateral meniscus of the left knee," the latest Serie A winners said on their website.

Turkish women’s volleyball team grabs ticket to Tokyo

Turkey snatched a ticket to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games after winning the women's CEV European continental qualifier.

In Jan. 12's grand finale, the Turks delivered a straight-set victory over Germany, symbolizing their right to compete at the Games in the Japanese capital.

Turkey to face Germany in Tokyo 2020 volleyball quals

Turkey's national volleyball team will take on Germany in the CEV European qualification finals for the 2020 Olympic Games on Jan. 11, after beating Poland 3-2.

In the match at Omnisport Apeldoorn, Turkey defeated Poland in five sets 25 - 19, 18 - 25, 25 - 23, 31 - 33 and 11 - 15.

Outside hitter Meryem Boz was the best player scoring 36 points.

Turkish women on road to get Tokyo ticket

The Turkish women's volleyball team on Jan. 10 won against Belgium 3-2 in a tie-breaker to qualify for the CEV European qualification semifinals for the 2020 Olympic Games.

Turkey led the first two sets 25-20 and 25-15, a great advantage to win the match in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands, but the Belgians managed to equalize, winning the third and fourth sets, 25-20 and 25-22.

Fenerbahçe Beko beat Baskonia for second straight win

Turkey's Fenerbahçe Beko defeated Spain's Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz 79-65 on Jan. 9 in a Round 18 game of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague.

During the game at the Fernando Buesa Arena in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain, Leo Westermann was the top scorer for Fenerbahçe Beko with 21 points.

Volleyball: Turkish women seek win for 2020 Olympics

Turkey's national women volleyball team will take on Belgium for their last group match in the European qualifiers for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics on Jan. 10.

Turkey were beaten by Germany 3-1 in their first game of the European qualifiers on Tuesday while they beat Croatia 3-1 in their second game on Wednesday in the tournament.

EuroLeague: Fenerbahçe seek second consecutive win

Turkey's Fenerbahçe Beko on Jan. 9 will take on Spain's Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz in a Round 18 game of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague.

The game will tip off at 20:00 GMT in Vitoria-Gasteiz's Fernando Buesa Arena on Jan. 9.

Volleyball: Turkish women to fight for 2020 Olympics

The volleyball qualifiers for Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games will start in the Netherlands on Jan. 7.

The eight teams are set to join the CEV Tokyo Volleyball European Qualification 2020 in the city of Apeldoorn.

Turkey, Netherlands, Germany, Bulgaria, Poland, Belgium, Croatia, and Azerbaijan will compete to qualify for the 2020 Olympics.

Süper Lig: 2.1M fans attend stadiums at season half

A total of 2.1 million fans watched 153 Turkish Süper Lig matches in the stadiums during the first half of 2019-2020 season, said, Passolig, the league's branded pass card dealer on Jan. 3.

Süper Lig's average attendance was around 13,700 in the first half of this season while the title contenders from Istanbul, Fenerbahçe topped the average attendance table with 38,901 spectators.

A modest club with limited monetary resources, Sivasspor maintained their heroic run to rule the Süper Lig's first half.

This summer, the club signed 13 players on free transfer to strengthen the squad.

Galatasaray ease past Antalyaspor for 5-0 win

Turkish football giants Galatasaray defeated Antalyaspor 5-0 on Dec. 28 with an easy win.

The Lions hosted Antalyaspor in Istanbul for the last match of the 2019-20 season's first half.

Galatasaray took the control of the game at the beginning of the match and had three goals scored by Radamel Falcao (2) and Celutska (own goal) at the first half.

Galatasaray falls away in title race

Reigning champs Galatasaray fell away in the title race of the Turkish football league after losing against Göztepe on Dec. 21. 

In a Week 16 match on Dec. 21, Göztepe beat Galatasaray 2-1 at home in İzmir with goals by Cameron Jerome in the 9th minute and Halil Akbunar in the 61st minute. Galatasaray scored by own goal with Lamina Gassama in the 27th minute.
