Turkish references to 'Nazi period' must stop: Germany's Merkel
Ankara's references to the Nazi period over the cancelation of Turkish ministers' meetings in the country must stop, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said March 9.
"These comparisons of Germany with Nazism must stop. They are unworthy of the close ties between Germany and Turkey and of our peoples," the center-right chancellor told the Bundestag lower house of parliament.

Turkey's ice hockey federation on Feb. 14 expressed optimism over the future of the sport in the country after its men's youth team slumped to an extraordinary 42-0 defeat to Russia at an Olympic festival.
"This is the first time that the team has played against a world giant," Ice Hockey Federation president Bulent Akay was quoted as saying by the Anadolu Agency.
Beşiktaş chairman apologizes for wrongdoings in derby of brawls
Beşiktaş chairman Firket Orman has "apologized for any wrongdoings" committed by his club during the Feb. 5 Ziraat Turkey Cup game against Fenerbahçe, which was marked by brawls and on-pitch violence.
"I apologize to everyone for our wrongdoings in the derby," Orman said on Feb. 7 at a ceremony marking a new jersey deal with Vodafone.
