Trabzonspor beats Göztepe, stays top in Süper Lig

Trabzonspor defeated Göztepe 1-0 in the Turkish Süper Lig week 10 game on Oct. 23.

Gervinho of Ivory Coast brought victory to Trabzonspor with his goal in the 56th minute at Göztepe Gursel Aksel Stadium in İzmir.

With this victory, the Black Sea Storm increased their undefeated streak to 22 games in the Süper Lig.

Galatasaray beats Anadolu Efes in Turkish Basketball Süper Lig

Galatasaray defeated Anadolu Efes 92-85 in the Turkish Basketball Süper Lig round 5 game on Oct. 23.

The latest champions, Anadolu Efes, finished the first half leading 51-45 against the Lions at Sinan Erdem Dome in Istanbul.

But the Yellow Reds' players did not give up and stayed persistent till the end.

Fenerbahçe draw with Antwerp in Europa League

Turkish side Fenerbahçe were held to a 2-2 draw by Antwerp on Oct. 21 in a Group D match of the Europa League.

Mbwana Samatta found an early goal for Antwerp in minute two at the Şükrü Saraçoğlu Stadium in Istanbul.

Fenerbahçe leveled the game with a goal by Enner Valencia in the 21st minute, but Valencia later missed a penalty shot in minute 37.

Trabzonspor defeats Fenerbahçe 3-1 at home

Trabzonspor extended their unbeaten start to the season on Oct. 17 when they sealed a 3-1 comeback win over Fenerbahçe in a Turkish Süper Lig clash at home.

The visitors took an early 1-0 lead thanks to Diego Rossi's goal in the third minute at Medical Park Stadium in the Black Sea city of Trabzon.

Turkey seal late 2-1 win over Latvia, keep their World Cup dreams alive

Turkey kept their 2022 World Cup finals hopes alive after securing a dramatic 2-1 win over Latvia in qualifiers on Oct. 11. 

The first half ended goalless at Daugava Stadium in the capital Riga.

Latvia took the lead thanks to Merih Demiral's own goal in the 70th minute.

Bottas wins Turkish Grand Prix as Verstappen reclaims championship lead

Mercedes driver Valtteri Bottas claimed his first chequered flag of the season to win the Turkish Grand Prix on Oct. 10 as Max Verstappen reclaimed the lead in the title race.     

The Red Bull driver finished second to take a six-point lead in the championship ahead of Bottas' teammate Lewis Hamilton who could only finish fifth.     

Turkey draw 1-1 with Norway in World Cup qualifiers

Turkey managed a 1-1 draw on Oct. 8 against Norway in a 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying group match in Istanbul.

Turkish winger Kerem Aktürkoğlu scored the opening goal in the sixth minute after his team's pressure on Norway's defense at Istanbul's Ülker Stadium.

Aktürkoğlu was assisted by Cengiz Ünder.

Turkish swimmer Viktoria Zeynep Güneş has won gold medal in the women's 200-meter race at the Swimming World Cup held in Budapest, Hungary.

Güneş reached the finish line with a time of 2.22.23 in the breaststroke category.

Kuntz in first test as Turkey coach

Former Germany U-21 coach Stefan Kuntz will face his first test as Turkey coach on Oct. 8 when his side hosts Norway in a 2022 World Cup qualifier Group G match in Istanbul.
Kuntz replaced Şenol Güneş last month following a humiliating 6-1 defeat against the Netherlands.

Formula One driver Lando Norris said on Oct. 5 he is excited to race in Turkey again as the Turkish Grand Prix is scheduled at the Intercity Istanbul Park on Oct. 8-10.

Turkish wrestler Fazlı Eryılmaz wins bronze in World Championships

Turkey's Fazlı Eryılmaz took a bronze medal in the 2021 World Wrestling Championships held in Oslo on Oct. 3. 

Eryılmaz, 24, beat his Belarusian opponent Azamat Nurykau 2-1 in men's freestyle 74 kg bronze medal match to come third in this tournament.

The World Championships in the Norwegian capital will run through Oct. 10.

Beşiktaş claims 2-1 narrow win over Sivasspor

Beşiktaş bagged a narrow win against Demir Grup Sivasspor by 2-1 at home in a Oct. 2 Turkish Süper Lig match.

In minute 32, the Black Eagles' Turkish forward Güven Yalçın scored a fantastic right-footed volley in Istanbul's Vodafone Park, following his teammate Valentin Rosier's cross from the byline.

Sivasspor goalkeeper Muammer Yıldırım did not move.

Razgatlıoğlu wins Portugal round of Superbike World Championship

Turkey's Toprak Razgatlıoğlu won the Portugal round of the 2021 MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship on Oct. 2.

Razgatlıoğlu, who races for Pata Yamaha with Brixx WorldSBK, edged out Ducati's Scott Redding by 0.691 seconds to claim victory at the Portimao Circuit in Algarve.

Team GoEleven's Loris Baz came in third, finishing 10.628 seconds behind Razgatlıoğlu.
