National gymnast İbrahim Çolak named athlete of year
Artistic gymnast İbrahim Çolak was chosen as the 2021 Athlete of the Year at the 67th Gillette Milliyet Athlete of the Year awards on Sept. 29.
Mehmet Baykan, general manager of Sports Services, presented the award in a ceremony at Istanbul's Volkswagen Arena organized by the Turkish Milliyet daily newspaper and shaving products company Gillette.

Adana Demirspor routs Gaziantep FK 4-0 in Turkish Süper Lig
Adana Demirspor hammered Gaziantep FK 4-0 in a Turkish Süper Lig game on Sept. 25.
Adana took an early lead with Yunus Akgun's goal in the 12th minute at New Adana Stadium and the first half ended 1-0.
Gaziantep's Steven Kaulker scored his own goal and made it 2-0 for Adana Demirspor in the 65th minute.
Turkish football club Kayserispor's Emre Demir joins Barcelona
Barcelona purchased Emre Demir from Turkey's Yukatel Kayserispor for €2 million ($2.34 million) plus bonuses, the Catalan club said in a statement on Sept. 23.
The 17-year-old will stay at the club until 2027, and his release fee has been set at €400 million ($470 million), according to the press release.
Turkey names Stefan Kuntz as new head coach
Germany's Under-21 coach Stefan Kuntz is set to take over the reins of the Turkish national team, the Turkish Football Federation announced on Sept. 19.
The 58-year-old, who played in the Germany side that won the 1996 European Championship, will sign on Sept. 20 at 1200 GMT at the Riva Hasan Doğan national team training center.
Turkey defeats Spain, wins European amputee football championship
Turkey sealed a back-to-back European championship title after the national amputee football team defeated Spain 6-0 in Sept. 19's final.
Turkey clinched the trophy with goals from Ömer Güleryüz (3), Kemal Güleş (2), and Rahmi Özcan at Cracovia Stadium in Krakow, Poland.
They dominated the tournament by scoring 36 goals and conceding only two.
Turkey wins consecutive Euro amputee football cup
Turkish national amputee football team has yet again bagged the European Championship title by defeating Spain 6-0, marking the victory for the second time in a row.
The team clinched the trophy with a hat trick from Ömer Güleryüz, a brace from Kemal Güleş and a goal from Rahmi Özcan at Cracovia Stadium in Krakow, Poland.
