Serbia wins European championship

TARTU - Serbia's junior women's volleyball team beat Slovenia 3-2 (25-23 17-25 24-26 25-17 15-12) in the final of the European championship in Estonia and Finland on Sunday and became the European champions.

This was Serbia's fourth attempt at the title, since they lost the finals in 2004, 2010 and 2012.

Turkey finishes fourth in Grand Prix, Brazil champions

Turkish national women’s volleyball team ended the FIVB World Grand Prix Finals on fourth spot after a four-set victory over Belgium at Ariake Coliseum in Tokyo, as Brazil won the title on Aug. 24.

Turkey rallied from losing the first set 26-24 to take thre next three sets 25-21, 25-23 and 25-20 to end the tournament on fourth spot.

Turkey’s Gözde Sonsırma was the top scorer in the match with 23 points while her teammate Neriman Vzsoy had 21. Brazil’s top scorer was Tandara Caixeta with 20 points.

Ersun Yanal, head coach of Turkish Spor Toto Super League's defending winners Fenerbahçe, has resigned from his post

Yanal quit his post on August 9 amid media reports of disagreements with club chairman Aziz Yıldırım.

"It's impossible to maintain my job in these circumstances as a head coach," Yanal said in a statement to Turkey's semi-official Anadolu Agency.
