Turkey to make Kurdish inflight announcements
Turkey will add Kurdish to the languages in which inflight announcements are made, one of the steps among post-election reform plans of the Justice and Development Party (AKP) government which surfaced amid criticisms targeting the ruling party over its inaction in regard to expanding fundamental rights and freedoms.
Curfew to be lifted every day in Silopi in southeast Turkey
The ongoing military curfew will be lifted between 5 a.m. and 6 p.m. every day in the Silopi district of the southeastern province of ??rnak, the ??rnak Governor's Office announced on Jan. 18.
The Governor's Office issued a statement saying the curfew would be lifted between 5 a.m. and 6 p.m. every day as of Jan. 19 until further notice.
Five injured in metrobus accident in Istanbul
Five passengers were injured when two metrobuses collided near Istanbul's Merter neighborhood, while the accident blocked the city's metrobus route in the Avc?lar direction.
On the morning of Jan. 18 a metrobus hit another from behind amid a heavy snow storm in Istanbul.
Five passengers were injured in the accident and transferred to a nearby hospital.

An explosion in a school’s grounds in Kilis, Turkey, has reportedly killed two people.
According to Turkish media, it is believed a mortar shell hit the area which is located near the Syrian border.
The bomb is believed to have struck the Eyup Gokce secondary school at 9:30am local time, RT reports.
One killed as rocket projectile from Syria hits schoolyard in border town
One person was killed and a student was injured as a rocket projectile originating from Syria hit a schoolyard in the southeastern Turkish province of Kilis, the office of the governor announced in a written statement.
The blast reportedly took place at 9:30 a.m. on Jan. 18 near the Nazl? Ömer Çetin primary school in the center of Kilis, where four schools are located.
Flights, ferries canceled in Istanbul due to snow storm
Heavy snowfall has severely affected transportation in Istanbul as flights and ferries were canceled and schools were closed by a snow storm that is expected to continue until late Jan. 19.
Turkish Airlines (THY) announced on Jan. 18 that 137 flights scheduled from Istanbul Atatürk Airport and Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport had been canceled due to the adverse weather conditions.
