Number of new firms opened by Syrians in Turkey on rise

Syrian migrants are becoming an economic actor in Turkey not only in terms of their labor power but also their entrepreneurial skills, with the number of companies opened by Syrians increasing 40-fold between 2010 and 2014, according to new data.

EBRD to invest $1.7 billion in Turkey next year

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) expects to maintain its pace of investment in Turkey at about $1.7 billion to $1.8 billion in 2015 and 2016.

In an interview with Anadolu Agency on Nov. 9, EBRD Turkey director Jean-Patrick Marquet said the bank had invested more than $6 billion in Turkey in the past six years, which it aimed to continue.

Turkish police detain 18 al-Nusra suspects in central Anatolia

Turkish police have detained 18 militants suspected of recruiting jihadists for the al-Qaeda-linked al-Nusra in anti-terror operations in Turkey's central Anatolian Konya province. 

Anti-terror police in Konya have launched simultaneous operations on 18 addresses linked to al-Nusra on Nov. 10, after technical and physical surveillance of suspects.
