Turkish president's office says 'insulting president not within freedom of expression'

The President?s Office has dismissed growing criticism of a police raid on a Turkish magazine over its cover bearing a montage picture of a smiling President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an taking a ?selfie? in front of the coffin of a soldier, claiming that ?insults? cannot be considered part of freedom of expression.

Turkish FM to pay official visit to Russia

Foreign Minister Feridun Sinirlio?lu will pay an official visit to Sochi on Sept. 16-17 following a visit to Azerbaijan, ministry spokesperson Tanju Bilgiç has said.

Speaking at a press conference on Sept. 15, Bilgiç said the visit was part of political consultations between the two countries, but ministers will also discuss regional issues, such as Syria and Ukraine.

Croats have launched a Facebook page designed to guide refugees to Western Europe through the Balkans. "Dear refugees: Welcome to Croatia," it begins.

The page collects helpful ideas for refugees and has a direct phone number that refugees can call and ask for help and directions.

Turkish economy minister predicts no Fed rate rise

The U.S. Federal Reserve (Fed) will not raise interest rates this week or it will only make a slight increase, Turkish Economy Minister Nihat Zeybekci predicted on Sept. 14.

Speaking to reporters at the Milan Expo 2015, Zeybekci said any rate rise would increase the demand for dollars, causing the dollar to rise in value. The next interest rate decision is due on Sept. 17.

Turkey's jobless rate rises to 9.6 pct in June period

Turkey?s unemployment rate rose to 9.6 percent in the June period, which includes May, June and July, up 0.5 percent year-on-year and 0.2 percent over May, according to data released by the Turkish Statistics Institute (TÜ?K) on Sept. 15.

The seasonally adjusted jobless rate came in at 10.4 percent in June, up slightly from 10.2 percent a month ago.

Ericsson plans to establish 4.5G plant in Turkey

Ericsson is pushing the button to establish a 4.5G plant in Turkey and awaits clarification on the criteria for locally produced equipment to start its investment, as reported by Turkish daily Milliyet. 

The Swedish giant will train Turkish software developers as well, according to the report.
