A group of representatives from several minority advocate groups gathered on Istanbul's ?stiklal Avenue to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Istanbul pogrom, anti-Greek riots in Sept. 6 and 7 in 1955 that left 15 people dead, many others injured and a large number of Greek homes and buildings looted.

Dutch journalist detained in Turkey for the second time

A Dutch journalist based in southeastern Diyarbak?r province was detained Sept. 6 by the police for the second time, Netherland official news agency ANP has reported.

Frederike Geerdink was detained at around 2 a.m., as she was following the Democratic Peoples' Party's (HDP) program.

Turkish athlete crowned modern pentathlon world champion, marking first

Turkish athlete ?lke Özyüksel claimed Sept. 4 her first world champion title in modern pentathlon at the Youth A World Championships, held in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

According to the International Modern Pentathlon Union's (UIPM) official website, she came first in the women's category with 1065 points.
