NATO holds emergency talks on Turkey's Syria campaign

NATO was holding an emergency meeting at Turkey's request on July 28 to discuss Ankara's military campaign against the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) and the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in Syria. 

Continuation of peace process not possible amid attacks: Turkey's Erdo?an

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an has said Ankara could not continue the Kurdish peace process amid continuing attacks against Turkish targets.

?It is not possible to carry on the peace process with those who target our national unity and brotherhood,? he told reporters on July 28, before departing to China.

Turkey-Iran Pipeline Blast Halts Gas Supplies

An explosion late on Monday suspended gas transport along a pipeline between Turkey and Iran, Turkish Energy Minister Taner Y?ld?z has said.

The pipes were caught in flames due to the blast which was extinguished quickly, state-run Anadolu Agency quotes him as saying.

In Y?ld?z's words, transportation is set to continue as soon as repair works are finished.

A gendarmerie commander was killed in an attack in the Malazgirt district of Turkey's eastern Mu? province July 27, authorities have said.

Armed attackers opened fire on Major Aslan Kulaks?z, the commander of the gendarmerie garrison in Malazgirt, while he was traveling with his wife and child in his car.
