55 Kg of Heroin Seized on Bulgaria, Romania's Danube Bridge

Bulgarian border police authorities seized 55 kilograms of heroin on the Danube Bridge, at the crossing point leading out of the country.

In a joint operation of Ruse's customs unit and the Border Police, officials found the drug divided into fifty separate packages in a lorry with an international license plate, according to reports by the Bulgarian National Radio.

Ship carrying fertilizer slams into harbor

A ship carrying 2,200 tons of fertilizer rammed into the harbor at Nea Moudania, northern Greece, on Thursday.

No injuries were reported aboard the Panama-flagged vessel and the crew did not report any damage to the ship’s hull.

The 15 crew members are all from Turkey.

Death Toll in Turkish Coal Mine Blast Rises to 282

The death toll in the in the coal mine explosion and fire in western Turkey has increased to 282, according to Turkish Energy Minister Taner Yildiz.

The government said 787 people had been inside the coal mine in Soma when an electrical fault triggered the blast soon after midday on Tuesday. A total of 363 were rescued.

National Bank of Greece plans to sell a minority stake in Istanbul-based Finansbank as part of plans to boost capital.

The lender, based in Athens, will submit a restructuring plan later this year which includes the sale of a “significant” minority stake in Finansbank, according to a statement posted on its website.

Coal Mine Explosion in Turkey Leaves more than 200 Dead

An explosion at a coal mine in western Turkey has left at least 201 workers dead.

Turkish Energy Minister Taner Yildiz told reporters early Wednesday that a total of 787 people had been inside the mine at Soma in Manisa province at the time of the explosion, according to reports of the BBC.
