GCS: 9,739 new cases of COVID-19; tests carried out in past 24 hours - 35,575

A number of 9,739 new cases of people infected with SARS-CoV-2 have been registered in the past 24 hours, as there were 35,575 tests carried out at the national level, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) informed on Wednesday. These are cases that have not previously had a positive test, says GCS.

Banknotes Pose Low Risk of Spreading COVID-19

 

Handling banknotes poses only a low risk of spreading Covid-19, the Bank of England has said, after it commissioned research to find out how long the virus lasts on cash.

The use of notes has dropped sharply since the pandemic hit in March, and the Bank said one reason could be fears that cash can carry the virus.

Croatia NGOs Criticise Move to Allocate Funds for Persecuted Christians

Some NGOs have criticised an independent MP, supporting the ruling Croatian Democratic Union, HDZ, who has proposed an amendment to the 2021 budget, allocating 1.5 million kuna, or 200,000 euros, for "persecuted Christians and other people in need".

The budget is due to be voted on in parliament on Wednesday.
