Deserted squares, padlocked parks, empty avenues where lines of cars once idled bumper-to-bumper in traffic as motorbikes and scooters zoomed through the narrow gaps between. The Greek capital, Athens, like so many cities across the world, has seen its streets empty under a lockdown designed to stem the spread of the new coronavirus.

Ceremony held in solidarity with Italy

The Greek Foreign Ministry on Friday held a ceremony in solidarity with Italy where the death toll from the Covid-19 outbreak continues to rise.

Officials raised the flags of Greece and Italy as the two countries' national anthems played.

The ceremony was attended by Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias, Italian Ambassador Efisio Luigi Marras and Parliament speaker Kostas Tasoulas.

The weak earthquake could be felt in the Croatian capital at exactly 10 o'clock, Croatian media reported.
The EMSC reported that the magnitude of the earthquake was 2.8 degrees Richter.

477 COVID-19 Infected in Bulgaria

477 are the confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Bulgaria according to data from the National Operational Headquarters. A 4-year-old child who has bilateral pneumonia is likely to be intubated, said the chief of staff, Gen. Ventsislav Mutafchiiski. The death toll has increased by two. So far, 12 people have died.

Dendias: Turkey used migrants for political purposes

Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias on Friday said Turkey had used migrants' desperation for political purposes, while calling for a continuation of NATO's migrant mission in the Aegean.
"Turkey was obviously exposed to international public opinion," Dendias told state broadcaster ERT over the recent migrant standoff along the Evros border.

Magnitude 4.7 earthquake strikes eastern Turkey

An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.7 struck eastern Turkey on April 3.

The quake occurred in Van province at 8.44 a.m. local time (0544GMT), according to Turkey's Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD).

There were no immediate reports of casualties.
