Papachristou takes gold in Berlin

Bagging Greece's fourth medal at the European Championships in Berlin, Voula Papachristou took gold for her 14.60 m triple jump on Thursday.

Papachristou dedicated her winning leap to the victims of last month's deadly fires in Attica by pointing to a black ribbon that she wore.

Her medal was the third gold for the Greece at the event.

Turkey to retaliate against Trump's metal tariffs

Turkey said on Aug 10 it would retaliate to the raising of steel and aluminium tariffs by the U.S. administration.

Fitch upgrades Greece rating to 'BB-' from 'B'

Global rating agency Fitch Ratings upgraded the long-term foreign currency issuer default rating on Greece to 'BB-' from 'B'.

The outlook on Greece is stable, Fitch said on Friday.

Greece's banking sector is getting better, Fitch noted, adding that the country's relationship with its European creditors has "substantially improved".

Gendarmes intervene amongst protesters in Victory Square, two gendarmes attacked
