Drawings revive Stratonikeia ancient city in western Turkey

Findings unearthed at the ancient city of Stratonikeia in the southwestern province of Muğla, as well as  the structures to be restored there, are being revived through special drawings made by an excavation painter.

The tax stamp on electronic devices production and imports was recently hiked, for allocation to the Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT), the state broadcaster. Upon a decision by the cabinet, 4 percent has been added to the existing 6 percent tax stamp.   

As a result of this decision, TRT will reportedly earn profits worth 500 million Turkish Liras.

Hot, dry winds hamper firefighting efforts

Transport delays in Athens draw commuters' ire

Public transport service delays in the capital this summer have reportedly prompted a backlash from commuters against staff working for STASY - the company that manages the Greek capital's metro, ISAP electric railway and tram.

In a statement, STASY workers said they are "on the side of commuters" and urged the company to take the necessary measures to resolve the issue.

Migrants rescued near Kastellorizo

The crew of a vessel belonging to the European Union's border monitoring agency Frontex Thursday rescued 43 undocumented migrants from an inflatable dinghy off the islet of Ro, near Kastellorizo. With the help of a Hellenic Coast Guard boat, the Frontex crew transferred the migrants from their dinghy to the Frontex vessel and then to Kastellorizo.

Man arrested in Rafina Port for physically abusing dog

Officers of the Rafina Port Authority on Thursday detained a 39-year-old man alleged to have physically abused a dog. The suspect was arrested after a local resident informed the authorities about the alleged abuse, details of which were not made public.

Penalties for animal abuse have been toughened several times in recent years as cases have proliferated.
