Yachts race off Corfu

Impressive Maxi 72 racing yachts took part this weekend in the world-renowned Corfu Challenge 2017, which ends Monday on the Ionian island. The 2017 Corfu Challenge is organized by the Marina Gouvia Sailing Club, along with the International Maxi Association (IMA) and the Maxi 72 Class. Messinia forest fire successfully doused

A fire that broke out in a forested area in Ano Melpeia in Messinia, southern Greece on Friday was brought under control late Saturday.

The blaze, which did not threaten residential areas, was put out by 48 firefighters with the use of 24 fire engines and a helicopter. 

Cyprus talks at Swiss resort to resume Monday

Greece faces fines over waste management

Greece has been condemned for a second time by the European Court of Justice for lack of proper wastewater management in the Thriasio area of western Attica. Population to keep falling for two decades, study finds

Greece's population is expected to decline significantly over the next two decades, according to estimates made by the Laboratory of Demographic and Social Analyses at the University of Thessaly in central Greece.

The department has reached the conclusion that the country's population is expected to decrease by between 842,000 and 1.26 million people by the year 2034.

Germany admits failures in fight against PKK

German Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel has admitted Germany's failures in combatting propaganda activities of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in his country on June 30, state-run Anadolu Agency has reported.
