Code Yellow Declared for All of Bulgaria for Saturday

Code yellow has been declared for Saturday for all of Bulgaria due to low temperatures.

The code is in force for all 28 regions.

The minimum temperatures will be between minus 15 and minus 10 degrees. The maximum temperatures will be between minus 4 and minus 1 degrees.

One more police officer arrested over Karlov murder

One police officer was arrested late on Jan. 19 over the assassination of Russian Ambassador to Turkey Andrey Karlov, who was killed on Dec. 19, 2016 in the capital Ankara. 

Girl Power | Athens | January 21, 22, 28 & 29

The Exile Room NGO will be holding a series of workshops at its downtown Athens headquarters on January 21, 22, 28 and 29 to teach young women aged 14-17 the basics of documentary filmmaking. The workshops are part of a program called "Girl Power," which includes screenings of docs about female empowerment, with the next showing scheduled for Thursday, January 26.

Greek stoner rock band 1000mods, from Chiliomodi in the Peloponnese, will be performing songs from their new album "Repeated Exposure To…" at Piraeus 117 Academy in Kerameikos, central Athens, on Saturday, January 21. The opening act, Thessaloniki-based psychedelic rock band Naxatras, will take the stage at 8.30 p.m. Doors open at 7 p.m.

Reuters: Turkey Moving Ever Closer To Becoming Authoritarian State

Turkey's Parliament has adopted another four articles of the constitutional reforms package which will extend the powers of President Recep Erdogan, reported Reuters.

Thus, the country is moving ever closer to becoming an authoritarian state.

If the changes are approved at the referendum as well, Erdogan will rule the country until 2029.

Legendary Serbian WW1 military leaders honored in Belgrade

The City of Belgrade, the government and the Serbian Army on Friday honored three Serbian military greats and heroes from the First World War era.

Five Turkish soldiers killed, nine wounded in Syria's al-Bab

Five Turkish soldiers were killed and nine others were wounded in an Islamic State Iraq and Levant (ISIL) attack in the al-Bab area of northern Syria on Jan. 20, according to the Turkish army.

The attack was staged with a bomb-laden vehicle by ISIL militants at 1:40 p.m. Wounded soldiers were taken to hospital immediately, said a written statement from the Turkish Armed Forces.

Royal Navy disposes of suspected WWII bomb in London

Britain's Royal Navy has disposed of a suspected World War II bomb discovered in London's River Thames close to parliament, leading to the closure of two bridges, police said on Jan. 20.

"Victoria Embankment has now reopened after police and the Royal Navy worked together to remove a suspected WWII ordnance," London's Metropolitan Police said in a statement.
