A total of 21 migrant smugglers have been apprehended during separate operations conducted in the Central Anatolian province of Kırklareli and the southern province of Muğla, Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya has informed.

New police chiefs have been assigned to five provinces across Turkey, including the metropolis Istanbul, according to a presidential decree published on June 16 in the Official Gazette.

Turkish police on Jan. 21 arrested three suspects for allegedly sending a shipment of four unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to terrorist groups in Syria, state-run Anadolu Agency reported on Jan. 21.

A public bus driver in Turkey's southern province of Adana has been fined and given penalty points for playing a game on his mobile phone while driving, İhlas News Agency has reported.

The incident came to light after a passenger on the bus recorded the 34-year-old Orhan Can playing Okey -- a very popular tile-based game in Turkey -- on video.

A key Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) militant has been caught in the southern province of Adana. 

Safwan Qahwati was planning to head to Europe to carry out attacks upon the jihadist group's orders, Doğan News Agency reported on March 29. 

Some 1,600 militants have been "neutralized" in the Euphrates Shield Operation in Syria since its launch in August, the Turkish Armed Forces announced on Dec. 30. 

Police teams in the southern Turkish province of Adana on Dec. 9 raided an apartment used as a set for a YouTube series, after receiving calls from local residents about its storage of fake long-barreled weapons, which they thought were real. 

Ankara police detained four suspected Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) members for preparing to launch an attack during the May 1 International Workers' Day demonstrations in the capital, Turkey's state-run Anadolu Agency has quoted security officials as saying. 

The Ankara anti-terror department detained the four suspects at midnight on April 30, the agency reported. 

Turkish anti-terror police officers in the southern province of Adana have detained a total of 11 suspected al-Nusra militants after conducting simultaneous operations across the city center to apprehend some 13 suspects.
