Turkey's foreign minister, US envoy discuss Afghan peace

The Turkish foreign minister said on July 15 that he discussed Afghan peace with U.S. special envoy for Afghanistan reconstruction.

Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu met Zalmay Khalilzad during his visit to Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan.

Çavuşoğlu tweeted that he "exchanged views on the Afghan peace process and regional developments."

Afghanistan to join Turkey's Efes 2020 military drills

The Afghan National Army will participate for the first time in Efes 2020, one of Turkey's biggest military exercises, an official statement said on Dec. 21.

According to the Ministry of Defense in Kabul, the decision was made during Deputy Minister Munera Yosufzada's trip to Ankara where she met her Turkish counterpart Yunus Emre Karaosmanoğlu.

Anadolu Agency: Suicide Bomb Hits Foreign Troop Convoy in Afghanistan

A suicide car bomber struck a convoy of foreign troops in southern Kandahar province on Monday, a provincial official confirmed, adding that several casualties were feared in the attack, Anadolu Agency reported. Kandahar governor's spokesman Qudratullah Khushbakh told Anadolu Agency the incident took place in the afternoon in Dand district.

Turkey condemns Afghan base attack, as death toll rises to 140

Turkey has condemned an attack on a military base in northern Afghanistan that claimed the lives of dozens of soldiers and injured many others. 

As many as 140 Afghan soldiers were killed on April 21 by Taliban attackers apparently disguised in military uniforms in what would be the deadliest attack ever on an Afghan military base, Afghan officials said.
