NATO Probes Reports Afghan Police Killed In Air Strike

NATO says it is investigating reports that at least nine Afghan police officers were killed in a U.S. air strike during a battle against Taliban insurgents in eastern Afghanistan.

Interior Ministry spokesman Nasrat Rahimi earlier said nine police were killed and 14 wounded in the strike in the Azra district of Logar Province.

Afghanistan: Fierce battle in the house of a member of Parliament

A suicide bomber blew himself up outside the house of a member of Parliament in the Kabul, Afghanistan, leaving the way open for two more assailants to enter. The security forces intervened and a fierce battle followed that lasted almost all night. According to Afghan police sources the operation ended only this morning.

Female Afghan police cadets train in Turkey

A total of 89 female Afghan police cadets began a two-month-long training program in Turkey on May 2.       

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the program, Turkish Deputy Interior Minister Sebahattin Öztürk said a total of 2,627 Afghan policemen and women have joined the training program in Turkey since the two countries signed a cooperation agreement in 2011.
