Türkiye expects record olive yield despite climate challenges

Türkiye is expected to see a record yield of table olives this year, with production estimated at 750,000 tons, despite challenges posed by the climate crisis.

Mustafa Tan, head of the National Olive and Olive Oil Council, stated that alongside the 750,000 tons of table olives, the country expects to produce 475,000 tons of olive oil for the 2024-2025 season.

World Bank to provide $1.9 bln in financing for projects in Türkiye

Türkiye has sealed agreements with the World Bank amounting to $1.9 billion in financing for four different projects to be implemented in the country.

The deals were inked on the first day of Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek's visit to the U.S., where he attends the G20 and World Bank meetings.

Fishermen from the earthquake-hit city of Kahramanmaraş, the epicenter of the deadly Feb. 6, 2023 twin earthquakes, have made a remarkable recovery and are now exporting fish to 54 countries.

Described as "the disaster of the century," the earthquake devastated 11 southern provinces, but the resilience of local fish producers has seen the industry bounce back.

New fines established for hunting endangered species

The country's nature conservation body has announced the fines for hunting endangered species, which are off-limits for the 2024-2025 season.

The list of protected wild creatures prepared by the General Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks' Central Hunting Commission features mammals, reptiles and birds.
