Chief Prosecutor to Examine Alleged Breaches of Agri Fund Officials

Bulgaria's Agriculture Minister has submitted a tip-off to Chief Prosecutor Sotir Tsatsarov against officials of the State Fund Agriculture (SFA) for flawed project approval.

Dimitar Grekov, as cited by Trud daily, made clear that the report to Tsatsarov contained a summary of multiple complaints of beneficiaries under the Rural Development Program.

Floods Threaten Bulgaria’s Harvest

The harvest season in Bulgaria could be delayed as a result of the intensive rains and floods in the country.

“Up to 250,000 decares of wheat have been destroyed by the rains and it could take at least a week longer than usual for the machines to go in and collect the harvest”, Agriculture Minister Dimitar Grekov said, quoted by Investor.bg.

Record Wheat Yield Expected In Bulgaria

This year's wheat yield in Bulgaria is expected to reach 5 M tons, said Agriculture Minister Dimitar Grekov. 

This would be the largest harvest for the past several years, surpassing last year's record of 4.7 M tons. 

According to Grekov, the main reason for the record yield are the additional 11 M decares sown under bread wheat. 

Bulgaria, China to Cooperate in Agricultural Projects

Bulgarian Agriculture Minister Dimitar Grekov has boasted about the progress in the country's cooperation with China.

Agriculture Minister Dimitar Grekov has promoted the export potential of the local agriculture sector to Japan's Ambassador to Bulgaria Takashi Koizumi.

At a Monday meeting with Koizumi, Grekov claimed that agriculture was the most stable sector of the Bulgarian economy, stressing that Bulgarian products were popular on the Japanese market.
