Village guard, soldier killed in clashes with PKK in Bingöl

One village guard was killed during clashes between security forces and outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) militants on Nov. 11 in the Genç district of the eastern Turkish province of Bingöl. 

The 28-year-old Mehmet Koçdağ succumbed to his injuries at the Genç Public Hospital after being wounded in clashes with PKK militants.

Turkish military academy to resume student admissions in February 2017

Turkey's military academy will resume student admissions in February 2017, following a halt after the failed July 15 coup attempt.

The academic year will kick off in February 2017 primarily for the air force academy, according to an official from the Defense Ministry who wanted to remain anonymous.
