Civilans evacuated as clashes intensify in southeastern Turkey

Fierce clashes continued Dec. 22 in several southeastern Turkish towns and cities as hundreds of people, including children, were removed from their houses in Silopi, a town in ??rnak, to safe spots by security forces. 

More outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) militants were killed, the military said while one more soldier was also killed.

Turkish police have seized bootleg alcohol hidden in pressure cookers along with other illicit items found in a workplace in the southern province of Adana. 

A total of 10 people were detained in an early morning police operation on 22 separate locations in Adana on Dec. 22, Anadolu Agency reported. 

Two soldiers killed in PKK attack in Turkey's east

Two soldiers were killed and six were wounded on Dec. 21 in an outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) attack in the eastern Bitlis province, Anadolu Agency has reported.

PKK militants detonated a hand-made explosive during the passing of security forces in the rural area of the Ölek village. According to initial reports, two soldiers were killed and six were wounded.

68 PKK militants killed in operations in ??rnak: Official

At least 68 militants of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) have been killed in ongoing operations in the southeastern province of ??rnak over the last four days, a security official said on Dec. 19.

The country's top soldier, Chief of General Staff Gen. Hulusi Akar, meanwhile, paid a surprise visit to the province amid the operations.
