The Early Music Festival takes place at St Paul's Anglican Church in central Athens on Saturday, October 1, Friday, October 14 and Saturday, October 15. The festival features ensemble Ex Silentio, the Athens Early Music ensemble, soprano Fanie Antonelou and baroque harpist Flora Papadopoulou under the artistic direction of Dimitris Kountouras.

Jazz | Athens | September 24

Ioanna Tsagari, aka Black Cotton Doll, presents a new world jazz project, "Within," at Saint Paul's Anglican Church in central Athens on Saturday, September 24. The vocalist will be accompanied by her band. The gig is set to start at 9 p.m. and admission is set at 12 euros; 10 euros reduced.

Connect Athens | Athens | June 8

Community Connect Athens meets on Wednesday, June 8, at St Paul's Garden, the Swedish Center, in Plaka. There will be coffee, cake and bingo, as well as a sale of books, DVDs, CDs, handmade greetings cards, quality used clothing, Swedish delicacies and homemade preserves. Proceeds benefit the Anglican Church in Athens and its nominated charities.

Athens Community Connect meets again on Wednesday, May 11, at St Paul's Garden in the Swedish Center, Plaka, central Athens. Besides enjoying coffee and cake and playing bingo, participants can stock up on books/DVDs/CDs, handmade greetings cards, quality used garments and food products. Proceeds benefit the Anglican Church in Athens and its nominated charities.

UK cinema agency bans Christian prayers at British cinemas this Christmas (vid)

A Church of England advertisements was rejected by cinemas. The advert was to promote Christian prayer in cinemas across the UK during the week before Christmas by showing a number of people from all walks of life reciting or singing excerpts of the Lord’s prayer including the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, a police officer, weightlifter, class of school children and others.

Church of England to vote on allowing women bishops

The Church of England was debating whether to allow female bishops for the first time in its history before a vote Monday, which could end half a century of bitter divisions over the role of women.
     
A yes vote by its governing body, the General Synod, could see the first women appointed to the Anglican Church's top jobs by the end of this year.
