Educators push for retaining Greek language certification in university bill
The University of Athens and the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki insist on the prerequisite of certified knowledge of the modern Greek language for foreign students enrolling in Greek higher education institutions, regarding the draft bill on establishing private universities, is set for a plenary vote on Friday.
Violence breaks out at universities in Athens and Thessaloniki
Violent clashes erupted at the Agricultural University of Athens in the Votanikos district in the first hours of Sunday, resulting in the torching of two buses and a car.
According to state-run broadcaster ERT, around 1:00 a.m., 40 individuals attending a concert at the university took to Athens Avenue, setting fires and hurling stones at passing vehicles.
Students reoccupy Aristotle University Law School
Just hours after police disbanded a sit-in protest at the Law School of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in northern Greece, students have reclaimed the space on the premises.
Additionally, a rally has been scheduled for 11 a.m. at the rectors' office.
Students are protesting government plans to permit the establishment of non-state universities.

Police intervention ends sit-in protest at Aristotle University’s Law School
Police stormed the Law School of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in northern Greece on Monday morning to put an end to a two-week-long sit-in protest.
Approximately 20 individuals were evacuated from inside the building during the operation, which began at 5 a.m.
No resistance was encountered during the operation, and no arrests were conducted.

Riot police attacked outside Thessaloniki University
A riot police unit posted outside a building at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki that had been an anarchist squat until it was cleared recently, came under attack on Wednesday morning.
The surprise attack took place at around noon and involved a group of assailants, who had their features covered, lobbing Molotov cocktails at the officers.
