European Union decisions to curb contacts and funding for Turkey over its drilling for gas and oil off Cyprus will not affect its determination to continue energy activities in the region, the Turkish foreign ministry said on Tuesday.

BRUSSELS - EU foreign policy and security chief Federica Mogherini did not leave Friday's meeting of the EU-Kosovo Stabilisation and Association Council, says EC spokesperson Maja Kocijancic.

"The SA Council meeting was held and the High Representative (Mogherini) was there all the time," Kocijancic said in a statement to Tanjug.

EU leaders struck a deal with Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu at the EU Council in Brussels on Sunday where Turkey will help stem the flow of migrants to Europe in return for cash, visas and renewed EU entry talks. Davutoglu called the deal that was hammered out by diplomats in the previous weeks a “new beginning”.

The EU Council, which met in Luxembourg on Tuesday, urged Macedonia's sparring leaders to focus on resolving the country's ongoing political crisis and start implementing a set of urgent reforms.
