Ex PM, socialist heavyweights to testify in Tsochatzopoulos trial Apr 29

An Athens court hearing the appeal of ex-Defense Minister Akis Tsochatzopoulos against his prison term for money laundering has accepted the former PASOK veteran?s request for the members of the Government Council for Foreign Affairs and Defense (KYSEA) from 1998 to 1999 to be called as witnesses.

A prosecutor recommended on Wednesday that the Athens court hearing the appeal of ex-Defense Minister Akis Tsochatzopoulos against his prison term for money laundering should accept the former PASOK veteran?s request for the members of the Government Council for Foreign Affairs and Defense (KYSEA) from 1998 to 1999 to be called as witnesses.

Kasidiaris hearing for TV beating postponed

An Athens court on Friday postponed the trial of Golden Dawn’s Ilias Kasidiaris over charges of attempted grievous bodily harm to March 1st, 2016. The postponement was due to action called by lawyers.

The case centered on charges brought against Kasidiaris by Greek Communist Party (KKE) MP Liana Kanelli, following a televised brawl on June 2012.

Court rejects Romanos's request for educational leave

An Athens court has turned down a request by anarchist and convicted bank robber Nikos Romanos for a furlough to study at a technical college.

Romanos, 21, has been on hunger strike since November 10 after authorities rejected his application for an educational leave since he passed a university entry exam earlier this year. He is currently hospitalized at an Athens clinic.
